 Get Yourself Organized

If you have read my previous post below you know I am
a big fan of people who are organized. Some of us are
& some of us aren't.

The best way to get started on a remodeling project is
to at least make an attempt to organize your thoughts
about exactly what you want to do.

It won't do to say to yourself "I wish I had a nicer
kitchen (or bathroom)" "We really need to do
something about adding more room".

That is what most people do & then they turn there
thoughts to something else & that is the end of that.
At some point you have to sit down with pen & paper &
start to write down some of those ideas that have
been twirling around your noggin.

Try to figure out if your thoughts are practical & then
think about how you would pay for it. If you think they
are doable then start to make a list of all the things you
have to do to put things in motion.

Keep making lists & first thing you know some action
will take place that will lead to another action, that will
lead to another action & first thing you know there is a
contractor at the door trying to build whatever it is you
want done.

I had a simple system that I used to get things done. I
have used this method my whole adult life. If you want
to get things done quickly & efficiently this is one way
to do it.

Here it is:
Write down all of the things that you want to do
tomorrow (this afternoon, this week, this month, this
year) The list must be very detailed & it must have a
time frame. (Start now, tomorow, next week, month,
year. Finish in a day, week, month, year)

Add big items & little items. It does no good to write
down "Go shopping" You should write down which
stores & all the things you want to buy when you get
there .

It does no good to write down what you wish for. You
must list the doable items that will make your wishes
possible.  Everything must be a doable item in the time
frame alloted

If there are telephone calls to be made, appointments
to be made, e-mails to be sent, reports to be written,
homework to be done, resume's to be sent, long term
plans to be detailed, life ambitions to be lived, write
them down. (Many of my lists for tomorrow were 40-50
items long)

After you are sure you have included all the items,
number them in the logical order that you want them
done.

If your list is for tomorrow, then do number 1 first thing
& start on number 2 immediately & continue without
hesitation to the next item until the list is finished.
Don't deviate, don't stop. Keep your head down & keep
going till you are finished.

You will find that there is always something getting in
the way of accomplishing the next numbered item.
Simply skip over it for now & go to the next number.
Return to the skipped item as soon as possible.

Here is why it works so well: You have made a detailed
plan & you have a simple system to bring it to a
successful conclusion.

Make a list & number the list in a time frame.

Try it. I promise that you will accomplish more things
than you ever thought were possible.
