Inviting The Fox Into Your Coop
The fox is a lot smarter than the chicken. Thats why the
chicken is fleeced & the fox gets fed.
I am not suggesting you are not smart but I am
suggesting you need more knowledge in order to
evade the clutches of a disreputable remodeling
contractor. If you are not prepared when he walks in
the door to estimate your remodel then you are at a
distinct disadvantage. He is experienced at his trade &
you are not.
Even if he is reputable & comes highly recommended
he has no pressure on him to cut his price to the bone
because he will sense immediately that you haven't
done your homework.
Most people who walk into a jewelry store are not
experienced at buying jewelery simply because it is
expensive & they don't do it very often. They must rely
on the integrity of the jeweler to make sure they are
getting their moneys' worth.
It has been my experience that you can trust
more
jewelers & fewer remodeling contractors.
When the contractor walks in the door, know exactly
what you want to do. Explain in detail & make sure he
knows he is not the only one bidding on your job.
My books are all about preparation before he arrives &
what to do after he leaves. You are spending a very
large sum of money, & there is no better way to get the
best bang for your buck, than to be prepared.
